Blended learning isn’t just about the integration of offline and online methodologies. Rather, it holds significance in delivering valuable educational aids to students and faculty. Also, the blending of online and offline mediums involves a mindset shift from the lecture mode of classroom delivery towards student engagement. This is enabled by the adoption of technologies that can lead to new personalized learning pathways. Online platforms are now becoming a ubiquitous element of education.
We at GITAM are leveraging these technologies which are not just playing a role in filling the gap of digital knowledge but also help in increasing the retention and engagement of learners.
At GITAM we have adopted three core technologies, Zoom, Coursera, and Moodle (LMS), to facilitate our transition to a Blended Learning model of teaching.
It is the leading platform in modern enterprise video communications, seamlessly bringing together remote and in-person teams. All the students and faculty are provided with access for the facilitation of class sessions with a pre-scheduled and iterative time.
At GITAM, we have purchased an enterprise-wide license enabling the seamless operations of conducting classes and team collaborations. It also provides the options of cloud platforms along with chat, audio, and video enabling. This platform also allows the institutions the liberty of conducting webinars for distance learning. It has a maximum capacity of 300 attendees, which can also be increased on various bases.
Turnitin's solutions have been adopted across GITAM to promote academic integrity, streamline grading and feedback, deter plagiarism, and improve student outcomes.
Moodle is open source and the world’s most popular learning management system (LMS). It was adopted at GITAM to provide faculty with features such as the dynamic quiz, interactive content, adaptive lessons, gamification, peer assessment, etc. to enable pedagogical innovation.
(Learn.gitam.edu). At GITAM, we are currently using the Moodle learning management system for posting course content, driving student engagement through discussion forums and conducting continuous/formative assessments. It makes the process of management and integration of schedules, timetables, attendance, mark sheets and others easy for our faculty and students.
Grammarly is an online digital writing assistance tool that is available to all students, faculty, and staff at GITAM. It detects spelling, punctuation, and other common grammatical errors in texts.
At GITAM, we aim to foster the process of interactive learning by conducting training for 300 faculty members through Harappa. This has played a key role in the capability of learning methodologies like Jigsaw, Flipped classroom, etc. The training has eliminated many learning barriers.
We are constantly revamping our ideas and methods to integrate a proactive approach into the process for blended learning.
