Our mission is to ensure that every GITAM student, staff, and alumni have the necessary skills to thrive in today’s rapidly changing and competitive business environment. We aim to help the students with their overall skill development and bridge the gap between theory and practice.
The blended learning model in education is gaining momentum in the present day. We, at GITAM, bring in a style of education that blends offline and online learning methodologies. They complement each other by filling the gap between traditional education and digital learning.
Traditionally, Blended Learning has involved substituting some face-to-face teachings with synchronous or asynchronous online learning activities. While the Covid-19 pandemic has forced many higher educational institutions to shift from on-campus, face-to-face teaching to online, virtual classrooms, this is just the first step.
This adaptation paves the path for students to break through the conventional methods and improve their learning process. The blending of online and offline mediums involves a mindset shift from the lecture mode of classroom delivery towards student engagement. An invaluable benefit is that it liberates one’s ideas and broadens their perspectives.

We are doing this by leveraging the whole portfolio of 7500+ Coursera courses for students for free. Many are using this to supplement their classroom learning, while others use it to explore new domains (photography, music, literature, positive psychology, etc.). Over the last 10 months, students have enrolled in over 100,000 courses and clocked more than 220,000 learning hours on the Coursera platform. We have also introduced a new LMS that will help students learn better through adaptive and personalized content
Enable spaces for a transdisciplinary approach to learning, where physical limitations are a thing of the past.
Online classes have given educators the freedom to think about learning experiences beyond geographical spaces' limitations. This will allow students to participate in classrooms across multiple disciplines (GIT, GIS, GSL, and GIMSR). For example, one of our Doctors from GIMSR took AI, deep-learning, and bio-hacking courses from Coursera during the Covid-19 lockdown to bring new conversations into his classroom.

There is a huge gap between students' education and employability in India. To bridge this gap, we need to equip students with 21st-century skills that employers value. Thanks to technology, we can reach and engage with professionals from across India without budget and time constraints. For example, GITAM School of Law has been able to invite judges, vice-chancellors, and lawyers from the legal profession into the classroom. This is the beginning of our journey, and we look forward to doing more through projects and internships to bring real-world experiences into the classroom.
